Termination of parental rights

I am getting a divorce from my wife and we have paternity issues. I never adopted my step daughter but her mom had me sign the birth certificate and changed her social and last name.. and now since she wants a divorce, she want to put me on child support.. can i terminate parental rights

You've complicated things by signing your step-daughter's birth certificate because the statute which says men aren't liable for children who aren't their biological children has an exception for men who sign the birth certificate.

Still, given that you did not adopt, I think you are safe from child support. Termination is probably not necessary (or possible) and not your answer, since you probably don't owe any support in the first place.

To make sure you don't get stuck with support, get yourself a good family lawyer, who will argue during the divorce that you cannot be liable for support for a child you did not adopt.
