If you give up your parental rights in the state of Florida do you have to continue to pay child support?

Your obligation to pay child support depends on how you "gave up your parental rights." If your child was adopted by another, the adoption order

usually removes all parental rights and obligations from the natural parent. You should review the adoption order for such language. The parental obligation to pay child support is strongly favored by public policy; only a court can remove that obligation. If you are not certain of your legal obligation, you are advised to take any such adoption or family law documents to an attorney who can answer your questions and advise you accordingly.
