Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My ex is several thousand dollars behind in paying my alimony. Will the courts garnish his retirement check? What and how would a motion of contempt benefit me? How long will it take the courts to answer a filed MOC? Can I file a lien against some of his collections (coins, guns) or put a lien on his auto or whatever he owns?? He retired early (55) and says his retirement doesn't pay him enough to pay me alimony..I had a permanent periodic alimony awarded to me,which could be modified if in writing.I was awarded alimony,my part of his retirement, and I was earning some money when we signed the MSA..He stopped paying alimony on his own after he retired, saying I was getting a few hundred more in retirement than he was paying me in alimony. Can he do that????The judge knew what the financial situation was and all the above was in the MSA???I need to know how to go on with this and approximate cost to go to court.Need answers Please....
Thanks so much

Did he retire due to legitimate health problems?
If the Court determines that he has willfully violated a court order, then a MOC would be applicable.
To fully answer all your questions would probably take at least a 1/2 hour, and that is beyond the scope of an Internet "freebee" consultation.
The above information is provided without any consideration/payment having been received, and without full knowledge of all of the facts.
An internet inquiry is no substitution for an in-office consultation with an attorney.
If your situation falls within the Greater Tampa Bay area (Hillsborough, Pinellas or Pasco Counties) , I would be happy to schedule you for a no obligation half hour office consultation.
