Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Transfer Court Doc's from one state to another
My ex-girlfriend & I had a son in Massachussetts in 2001. She disappeared about 3 years ago. I just recently found her in Florida. I am now in Missouri. I need to get our court papers sent to Florida so I can file in comtempt in Florida. How do I do this? I have been in contact with my son from Feb - Easter. She then stopped communication when I requested to visit. Please HELP!!!

You need to contact the court in question and ask for a certified copy of your judgment.
If you had parental rights and your ex disappeared with your child, there may be more than contempt, there. You might want to contact a local attorney.

Suggest you retain a Florida attorney who can domesticate your order and pursue your remedy .

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
You will need to obtain a certified copy of the judgment which you believe your ex-girlfriend is in contempt of. The judgment will have to be domesticated in the appropriate Florida court where the ex-girlfriend now lives.
You should retain an attorney to handle this matter and to pursue other remedies which may be available to you based on the activities of your ex-girlfriend. You will probably have to travel to Florida and appear for a hearing when the time comes. Hopefully, you have kept detailed records of exactly what has transpired between you and your ex so that your attorney will be able to present this information to the court.
