Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
visitation
dad took daughter from grandma when her mother died. now dad doesn't let grandma , aunt or other family see child unless he feels like letting her. child grew with grandma & aunt when mother was overseas on & off fro 11 yrs. how do they go about filing for visitation rights to see child on a schedule. dad not really involved that much in child life while she was growing up, just occasional visits every year that the mother made her go & see him because of divorce decree. child very unhappy that she can't see the people that has been in her life all these years.

Re: visitation
Unfortunately, the current status of Florida law is that visitation for relatives--even grandparents--is at the mercy of the parents, in this case the father. So long as there is no neglect, abuse, or abandonment, relatives are only entitled to see a child as much as the parent allows, if at all.
