Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My ex and I are waiting for a courtdate for custody of our 8 year old child. I just received a notice in the mail that her teacher has been subpoened for a deposition from my ex's lawyer. Am I able to attend this and ask questions as well since her father has nothing to do with her school work or schooling at all? I do not know why they would subpeona her teacher, because of his lack of involvement will only make him look bad. What is this all about?

You may always attend. If you are not represented by a lawyer, then you may ask questions. If you are represented, then your lawyer will ask questions. You can always attend.
The deposition is designed to uncover any information that might be relevant to the case. Its simply part of the discovery process. You may certainly attend and you may ask questions if you are not represented. You need to be careful as the deposition transcript is a sworn statement and becomes part of the record, much like live testimeny at a trial. I hope this helps, and good luck.
