Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

What to do?

I am a wife whose husband just asked her for divorce after 6 1/2 yrs of marraige. I just looked at our joint account and both the savings and checking have been cleaned out. He has been working out of town and has found and moved in another woman in the state of virginia. What steps should I do to protect myself

Re: What to do?

If there are any other accounts or assets(checking, savings, CD's, stocks, bonds, brokerage accounts etc.)that your husband has not already cleaned out then you should probably clean them out yourself. This does NOT mean that you should take the money and go on a wild spending spree. You and your husband will be accountable at some point for marital funds and other assets taken. You may use existing funds to pay for reasonable and necessary living expenses.

Of course, you should not deposit any funds into your joint accounts. Paychecks and other funds you receive should be deposited into your own separate account.

I strongly suggest that you contact an attorney who can review and give you an opinion based on all of the facts in your case. My comments are meant to be general in nature
