Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My wife and I are jumping through the hoops of DCF, CBC of Seminole, and the st. of Florida. My wife is a victim of domestic violence and I am the abuser, not proud of it but can admit it. We are both actively completing case plans to get reunified with our boys, I have 1 more BIP class left she has a few more things to complete still. My question is, can the state keep our boys from us if we go through marraige counciling and put our family back together? Her attorney, who is working closer with her mother and step father than her has told her if she doesnt get a divorce then she will lose custody of the boys for ever. I want to know if their is any truth to that or does her parents want us divorced more than her getting the boys back.

I can't answer your question because I don't know enough about your case. But it sounds to me like her lawyer has a conflict of interest. In the many years I've been handling caseslike yours, I've never advise a couple to get a divorce. I think it's important for you to get a lawyer of your own, and do that right away.
