Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My wife has left me several times and we still live together but she said she was filing for divorce. We live in separate parts of the house and rarely talk. My son and I took her gun away from her because of her erratic behavior such as setting the smoke alarms off in the middle of the night. She has now served me with domestic violence papers saying she fears for her life. I have witnesses that will vouch for me in court that it is the other way around. She also said she is no longer paying for her half of the bills and I can't afford the house on my own. I am considering just finding an apartment for me and my son (he is not a minor but an adult) and shutting off the power to the house and leaving rather than keep paying the bills and allowing her to live there free. What are the legal repercussions if I do this?

If your wife is mentally ill, I suggest you seek guardianship over her so that you can place her in a home and control her financial matters.
