Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Ex wife re-married and ending of alimony
I got divorced 2 years ago and my ex is soon to re-marry. Child support has ended and I was to pay her $500/mo alimony until youngest child turns 20 y/o. One reason was to help pay for the new car she got before our divorce. She will be getting married at the end of July 07 and she has since traded in the car and bought a new one. Both kids are over 18 and are both employed and in colloge now.
Do you think I can get the alimony stopped? I need the money to re-start my new life.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
This would be dependent upon and controlled by the terms of your final judgment. If the judgment specifically explained the reasons for the alimony as you set forth above, then you have a good chance of getting the court to modify the final judgment. If not, you may have a difficult time.
