Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Wording of a MSA
What would the difference be,if
the wording on a marriage settlement agreement said( as of)
and that part was marked out and
the word put in was(concluded)?
I am in the process of a divorce and
the paperwork was filed 5/23/07,
spouse left 1/21/07,he wants my
part of the DROP be started when he left not when the paperwork was filed. What is the monetary
loss with the changing of the words
as I ask above? We was married 26+ yrs he can get in drop 2010
and he will have 30 yrs service.

Re: Wording of a MSA
You need to have an attorney view your entire proposed MSA before you sign it. I don't understand your question, but small changes in the wording of an MSA can change the MSA drastically. Retirement, in particular, can be tricky, and since DROP only lasts a few years, the monetary consequences can be extreme.
