Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Last year i got a free consultation for a divorce. The attorney quoted me a retainer of $4000.00. He stated he would need a minimum of $1500 down to do anything. Two days later, I met him and signed a contract to retain him for a divorce, and gave him the $1500 down. I signed a contract retaining him for services for divorce, but two days later I changed my mind. I phoned him at this time, and he stated"we'll just keep it in case you change your mind." Is this legal?

Read your contract. It was probably non-refundable and yes that is legal.
