Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
i have a one year old son that has been at my house for over two weeks. his mother hasn't called and doesn't know when or if she's going to pick him up. how long does a one year old child have to be left somewhere without contact from his mother before it's considered abandonment?

Need more info. Are you the other parent? Are you on the birth certificate. If you are, then file a Petition for Emergency Custody - state you position clearly in the petition because the judge will read this and make a determination if it is an emergency or not and if he says he will not sign, then it will go to the magistrate's office to be set for a hearing. YOu will then need to serve her papers or have her served through construction service (last know address - publish in paper). I suggest you get an attorney. Any time you are dealing with children, you really should have an attorney.
