Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
young mother with child support issue
I'm 17 and have a 2 month old, her father wants to see her but refuses to pay any child support, he hasnt even signed the birth certificate, hes 18 and his adoptive father keeps calling me and saying that if they cant see her they will go to court and try to take her away from me. Is there anything I can do to keep him away from her, he's not a good influence at all.

Re: young mother with child support issue
Failing to pay child support can land him in jail, but it won't take away his right to see his daughter. The types of things that can convince a court to keep a father away form his child are that he is an alcoholic, drug user or prone to violence. But only a court can make that decision, not the Mom. Since you are not married however, you do not have to let him see the child unless and until a court says so. But understand that unless one of the problems I described exists, if he asks for visitation he will most likely get it.
