Unemployement

I am a contractor and will be out for two month after the birth of my baby can I collect unemployment or do I have to be fired or let go first?

Contractors aren't covered by the FMLA.

Independent contractors don't have FMLA protection.

Under Florida law, in order to collect unemployment you must be available for work and look for work each week you collect benefits.
