1. Can I take pictures of private houses, & sell them?

2. Can I take picture at a paid event & sell them?

Probably to both. At paid events, there may be a prohibition on photography. Basically, the venue producers (and others) hold the rights to allow photos or not as a condition of admission.

You own the copyrights to your photos and may sell them. Whether you violate another's rights by taking the photos or whether another owns rights to the photographed subject matter is a consideration of litiation.

Not a simple "yes" or "no."
