Animal Attack

I was recently walking my dog when a pit bull, who was not leashed, attacked my dog and also bit me in the process. My dog died later that night. Is it reasonable to ask for the vet bill to be paid in full as well as the dollar amount of the dog when purchased?

Strict liability for damage caused by dogs. You will need to identify the owner and hope they have a homeowners policy that covers it.
