Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Borrowed Item that was lost
I borrowed Quickbooks 2008 contractor version from an ex employer and before I could even use the program I lost it. I don't if I threw it out by mistake or if maybe someone stole it from me but it's gone. My ex employer keeps calling me making stupid threats like He'll come take te wheels off my car until I pay him. The problem is, I can't afford to pay him until next month. I know this is ridiculous but he is spiteful and I don't want any problems. My question is, What can he do to me legally for this $400 software program? Thanks

He can sue you. You had it. You lost it. You owe him. Pretty straight forward case.
