Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Boyfriend threatening to sue for things he paid for while dating me

I was just wondering if my ex boyfriend, by law, had a case to sue me. He paid for me to have plastic surgery and also paid off my car loan. Now that we are broke up he is threatening to sue me for the money he has spent on me. We had no agreement on my paying him back, verbal or written. I even stated to him at one point that I appreciated him doing those things as I would never be able to pay him back for it. He, at the time, said that he did it because he loved me. Now that we are broke up he is threatening to sue. Also, he is planning on moving back to Texas and I didn't know that if he did sue me if he would have to sue me here in Florida..or if he could do it there in Texas.

Any information that you could provide would be helpful.

Thank you

Re: Boyfriend threatening to sue for things he paid for while dating me

Unfortunate circumstances to you. There was no agreement that you were pay him back, so there is no money you owe him. Plus, if he tries to sue you, he will have to do it in Florida since you are not in Texas, and do not have any contact with Texas. Thus, he will have to use counsel in Florida to sue you.

Good luck.
