Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
A business departed from its location prior to the expiration of the lease. The business ower advised the landlord to keep the security deposit which was equal to the forward rent due. The landlord kept the security deposit and used that money to legally pursue the tenant. How does one settle with the landlord to limit future liability exposure?

Seems like both violated the law. Leasee for leaving too soon and landlord for using security deposit ( but see lease for exceptions). See a lawyer to work it out.
