Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Car seller reports car stolen

Purchased car from private seller. Seller requested 1000 more before he would sign over title. When I refused, he took back the vehical and hid it. Has now reported that I stole the vehical and is trying to take me to court. He says that I had the vehical when it was stolen and that I am liable. Am I going to be held responsible for the car?

Re: Car seller reports car stolen

Do you have anything in writing that indicates how much $$ you agreed to pay for the car?

This is actually something you may want to talk to a lawyer about in person or over the phone. He has your money and the car. If you can't get the car, he needs to give you back your money. It's important, then, that you follow the rules of procedure. Unless you have the time and inclination to find them and study them, you might want to find someone..
