Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Collect a settlement

In October I won a case I filed against a previos emplyee for not performing the services he was contracted to do. I was awarded a $1000 settlement with 9% annual interest. I know this person will not pay unless forced. I want to file a lien against his property and/or garnish his wages. What do I need to do?

In Florida, you can record the judgment in Tallahassee as a lien against the judgment debtor. Likewise, you can record the judgment in the county where you think the former employee has property. The employee may have homestead and other exemptions allowed by law.
