The bank has filed a complaint to foreclose on my property. How do I properly answer the court and opposing counsel? Is there a specific form needed, or may I simply type a letter of response on my own?

You are free to try and defend yourself, but I strongly recommend you find yourself a civil litigator experienced in defending foreclosure actions. Seek the advice of counsel and good luck.
