Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

contract law

Here is a contract. Please review and advise.

If employment is terminated byy the company for any reason other than for ''cause'', and in consideration of your execution of the company's standard relase at that time, you will recieve, in lieu of any separation payments specified a total separation of payment equal to 6 months salary at the time of termination.

If your employment is terminated by the company for ''cause'', resign, or terminated for death or disability, then no payments will be payable.

They define ''cause'' as bascially any failure to comply with company policy, performance deficiencies, harassment, conviction, fraud, etc...

My question is, ''if the company moves to another state and offers relocation expenses, and I decline to move, do they still owe the severance pay?'' Thank you.

Re: contract law

See prior answer. With paying for relocation, my gut reaction is that you would not be entitled to severence pay. Go speak with them, however, they may be willing to do something for you.
