Damaged Property Question

I caused damage to my girlfriends moms stove, and now that stove needs to be replaced or repair. The repair cost for this 8 year old stove is 1000 dollars. It will make more sense to get another stove. Do I Need to buy a brand new stove or can I replace it with a stove of equal value?

Technically, you don't have to do anything until a court order sheet. But, doing the right thing, you are required to replace the stove with one of equal or greater value. It doesn't matter if it's used or new.
