Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Employment compensation

I am employed by recruiting comapny and compensated based on gross profit driven for the company. There is an unusally large chunk of GP that has recently been paid to the company by a client that I manage. I have received the gross profit benefits in commision of all other monies from this account. I am being told that because there was a negative on another project owed by the same client, but managed by a different recruiter (that I received none of the positives on) that I will not be paid my commision. If I seek legal redress my carear here is finished. Is there any recourse other than getting a lawyer and going to court?

Re: Employment compensation

Are you a resident of Florida or Georgia? The company may have internal policies regarding this type of dispute, if so you may want to pursue your claim using those policies, internally. Otherwise, document the claim and if you change your mind or have other problems you may need to eventually consult an attorney and pursue legal redress.

Re: Employment compensation

There are always other, non-legal options such as threatening to quit, reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, etc. However, these types of options rarely produce good results. I would advise consulting a local attorney and weighing the cost-benefit of filing suit.
