Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

employment offers retracted after admitting past arrests

I was made an offer of employment. I accepted but have yet to fill out a proper ''application.'' I have not been asked anything about my arrest record. I voluntarily ''gave up'' info about the withold of adjudication on a felony.

If my offer of employment is denied as result of my (stupid) forthcoming comments, is there any legal course of action that I may take?

Re: employment offers retracted after admitting past arrests

nope -- Florida is an at will state. That means they can fire you for any reason other than those protected by federal law: race, sex, age, or religion. They can fire you (or refuse to hire you) because you have an adjudication withheld.

Next time, remember, the truthful answer to the question about whether you have been CONVICTED of a crime is "no."
