Fear of Termination...
I have worked for a major bank for the last year and a half. Recently my boss has been asking me to do personal, un-work related favors, such as asking clients about their relationship status if he is interested in them. These favors make me feel uncomfortable and he makes it seem as if I don't do them my job is in jeopardy. He has me work overtime and then denies paying the overtime saying that I can just take off a few hours the next week, and then when the next week comes it all starts again. Last week I was sick and called in for the first time ever (have never been tardy either). Today, four days after returning to work, he gives me a final written warning stating if there are any more ''problems'' I will be terminated. I have never had any type of warning, never had any problems before. All of this started after I began complaining about not being paid for the overtime hours I was working. Can he terminate me without just cause? And is there any action I can take to his making me feel I have to do favors for him not related to work?

The suggestions and questions raised by Mr. Slater are on point. You should consider meeting with an attorney experienced in handling employment disputes on behalf of plaintiffs (employees against employer). Should you wish to discuss this matter in more detail, please call my office at 305.445.0937.

Read your employment policies regarding grievance procedures. Do you have any witnesses to back you up? Can you report his actions to anyone higher up? Goodluck.
