However, my advice to you is to hire an attorney to draft a simple settlement agreement for you. Usually the other side (boat owner) will have some changes to the settlement you propose and it would be better to have an attorney review the changes as well as the final version prior to signing.

It is worth paying a little up front to avoid a legal headache in the future!
