Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Fraud by malicious impersonation

Last year I met someone on a dating site on the internet. We emailed back and forth and then traded phone numbers. He was a bright and successful 31yo man. The first time we talked he was taking off on a business trip for two weeks. We became close quite quickly finding that we were a perfect match in so many ways. What transpired over the next two months was an intelligent and complicated fraud that I had no idea was unfolding and innocently got sucked into, this guy was so expert and cunning.

He many times was days from coming to meet me and ''take me away'' persuading me to abandon my job hunt and I went broke. He sent me $500 money order to help me.

In the course of it I came to believe that he was the son of a mob family, that his family had kidnapped him and his murderous brother was coming after me. I fled my apartment in fear.

He eventually made a mistake that clued me in to the fraud and I hunted him down. He's a 61 yo man in West Palm Beach and I went to his door and confronted him. Recently he emailed me an apology admitting everything and how sorry he was.

Can I sue this guy for what he did? I can get affidavits from family and friends who believed it as much as I did. He needs to be stopped!

Re: Fraud by malicious impersonation

You can bring a civil suit and could consult with an attorney over all the facts to determine your damages, etc. Having the admission in writing is very good.
