Your statement fails to indicate what legal advice you are seeking, but I'll take a guess. If your friend gave you the computer as an unconditional gift, the computer is yours and it cannot be taken back by your friend. Of course, your friend may claim that he/she merely lent you the computer and that you misunderstood, and that you should return the property which you only had conditional custody over. Regardless, if the computer is over a year old, it is probably not worth much and you might want to return it and save yourself the headache of dealing with this issue. Consider buying yourself a new computer, transferring the data to your new system, and returning the old computer to your former friend. It will be cheaper than hiring an attorney for this nonsense, not that you will be able to find a good one to handle this relatively minor dispute. Good luck.

A unconditional gift cannot be legally revoked.
