Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

I gave a car dealer $1,800 down pymnt for a car.He gave me 2 weeks 2 pay $720 for tax,tag,etc..The second wk i clld 2 let them know i would bring the entire pymnt on friday and they agreed.Friday morning i walk outside and realize my car had been repossesed.I went down to the lot and asked for answers. All i was told at first is that in order to get my car back, I would need $900 to cover the $720 & an additional 200 for the tow.Once i agreed to pay that amt. I was told i would need 2 pay an addtl.$200 for my first note.I hesitated, but then agreed to pay that{$1,175}..Then i was told to hand over the keys so they could bring the car around for me.Once he had retrieved the keys, i was told i needed to pay an additional $600 to his brother that came to retrieve the car, totaling $1,775..Being that i only had the car for eight days I askd for my down pymnt back since obviously he didn't want me to have the car!! I ended up leaving with no car or no money back..I need help with this matter

What a mess... Some of the answers are in any contract you signed for purchase of the car. Please, tell me there is a contract....

You should 1) read the contract; 2) consult an attorney and have an attorney write a demand letter to the dealer; 3) file suit in small claims court.

This is a common rip off that used car dealers do. It is called spot payment, and if you fail to make payment on the spot as per the contract, they will repossess your car and add additional fees. When you give up, they will do it again with the same car to a different person.
