Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

My grandson wascharged as a felon because he had verbally told a man he would do an irrigation job. The man gave him a check for $750.00 dollars, made out to him with nothing stating what the check was for. The grandson did not complete the job. Perry Florida charged him as a felon. Was picked up in Clay Co. Fl. spent 9 days in jail before transported to Perry. Is now out on bond. Was told to get an attorney as this was a civil matter not a felony. Has the right to sue.

The current charges are criminal, and he needs a criminal defense attorney to help him. What was he charged with exactly? This is certainly a civil matter, under all normal circumstances. But, apparently Perry County saw some circumstances which merited criminal prosecution. Again, you need a criminal defense attorney first; a civil suit may come later.
