Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
Health risk at job then sudden discharge
I was employed at a detail shop for 6 months, on one instance i was told to clean up a car that had been in the body shop for repairs after a collision, i began to shampoo the carpets and seats where there was loose glass, turns out that the stains I had been cleaning were blood stains from an accident, at that time i was not informed that there was blood in the vehicle and not given any gloves, after investigation of what I was cleaning I found out it was blood and informed the owner that I was going to get a blood screening to be sure I have not contracted any diseases. One week later on that day I had my blood taken I was discharged from the company with no reason what so ever, except that they could not afford me. I feel this was unjust and directed towards me due to the incident with the blood. I would like to know of any legal actions I could bring against the owner of the company.

Probably not. Under Florida law, a person can be discharged for virtually any reason or even no reason at all. The only exception is if it is a constitutionally protected class (i.e. race, creed, color or national origin). If the employer gave you a valid reason for discharge, then about the most you can do is apply for unemployment benefits if you are unable to find a new job.

From the facts you list it appears that you don't have a claim relating to being discharged. You are probably better off finding a new job. Good luck!
