Information on Mobile Home Owners Associations and Park managment and owners
We live in a senior M/H Park with an association and some of us have deceided to start a Bevenlent Fund for the park. The association did not want any part of this fund and now are giving us a lot of grief along with management that we can not use the park facilities unless we have a Fed#-state permit and sales tax number. We have now applied for such numbers and permits. All we want to do is to help people who are less fortunite than us. Are there books or somewhere we can go to make sure that we do everything legal, because the association and management are threatening us with legal action. Thank you...

Re: Information on Mobile Home Owners Associations and Park managment and owners
Starting up and operating a charitable organization is an undertaking frought with legal requirements and regulation at all levels of government. It is unfortunate how the benevolent purpose of an organization such as yours can getting bogged down in legal minutiae, especially when there are those who are hostile to your undertaking. If you mean to be a serious organization, you should consider retaining an attorney to assist you. In the meantime, there is some very good information available on the Web. Try the following: Nonprofit Resource Center at http://www.not-for-profit.org/ and the National Charities Information Bureau at http://www.ncib.org/
Good luck in your venture.
