Need legal advise
A company I use to work for sent me a check during a time when I was no longer with them. What would happen if I cashed the check?

If the money is not yours and you know it is not yours, it could, under some interpretation be construed as civil theft that would subject you to treble damages. That is unlikely, but a possibility. More likely is that when it is discovered you would be required to return it, possibly with interest. Why take funds that you know are not yours? Do the right thing here.
