Re: My legal rights after my Fathers death

You may. Was there a will? Was the prperty owned jointly with another? The answer requires investigation.

Re: My legal rights after my Fathers death

First of all, please accept my condolences on your Father's passing without your having been informed. Under Massachusetts law,at least, if your Dad died without a will, 50% of what he posseessed in his own name would pass to surviving spouse and 50% to his children. If he left a will that failed to mention you, you could claim the share you would have been entitled to as if there were no will. It also depends on how the deed is drafted. Retain an attorney to investigate this since the failure to notify you of your Father's death raises suspicions in itself! Good Luck!
