If you say in writing that you ''suspect'' that someone was taking paybacks in return for business contracts is that a libelous statement?

Re: Libel

Hello. If this statement is in writing, it

is libel. If the statement is oral and someone

else heard it, it is slander. Libel and slander

are provisions of the Illinois Statute that are

alive and well. In other words, you can be sued

for damages to someone's reputation. This can

be a very serious matter. I will be happy to

answer any additional questions that you might

have.
