Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
''loan''
I sign a contract in good faith for at home educational program. The materials were unsatisfactory for me as well as a financial hardship. I''m being asked to pay the loan in full of excess of $3000. I never received that amount of learning materials I only received 3 subject packs and paid a total of $684. Why should I be summons to court for monies and/or materials I don't have? What is a judgement?

Re: ''loan''
The fact that you have no money is legally irrelevant. Otherwise, anyone who owes money could simply defend non-payment by arguing that payment would place him/her in financial hardship. The basis for the claim against you and the defenses that may be available to you will laregly be dictated by the agreement you signed with the home educational program. Without reviewing that agreement, no lawyer can give you any specific guidance. A judgment is a final order entered by a court that gives the plaintiff the right to pursue collection of money. If you defend yourself from the claim asserted in the suit, you may be able to avoid the entry of a judgment or at least reduce the amount of the judgment. Seek the advice of free legal assistance in your county (there may be a legal services program for low-income individuals). Good luck.
