Missing item

I recently sent a package thru a well known carrier. When is was received there was a piece missing out of the package. Can the carrier/employee be charged with stealing?

You should file a complaint with them and let them try to resolve it first before you do something in civil court. You can always file a criminal complaint, but the value will possibly be too low for the DA to bother with.
