Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
My neighbors left piles of junk and construction supplies in their yards knowing a hurricane is coming. If any of it flies up and damages my property (or branches from their untrimmed trees do) who pays for it? How are damages and liability assessed in natural disasters?

The neighbor can be responsible for negligently leaving materials which become airborne and cause damage. You would need to have proof that the materials caused the damage. The issue with trees is much more complex and you likely will not prevail on that claim. if you have homeowner's coverage it should cover tree/branch damages. mother nature causing damage is covered by your insurance.
