Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
More than I paid for.
I live in Oklahoma and orderd, via the internet, an item from a company based in Florida. I recieved the item, then, three days later, recieved another of the same item. There were minor differences between the two items, mainly cosmetic. The invoices were identical, and both are marked paid.
What do I do? Can I keep both items?

The laws in Florida are the same laws your Mom and Dad should have taught you in Oklhoma: a clerk gives you too much change, a vendor sends a duplicate in error, you find a wallet in the street....Basic HONESTY. Contact the vendor and advise them of the mistake. They'll pay return postage and you'll feel better having done the right thing. It will come back to you too!

It's too bad that you have to consult with lawyers over the Internet on a question like this one. I would like to think that you know what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the law may be in any state on the issue you raise. This is not a legal opinion, but if I was you, I would keep the item I liked more, and then contact the vendor and arrange to have the other one returned. I'm sure the vendor will pay for postage and will appreciate your honesty.

The correct legal answer is that you can keep both items. However, if people did only what is legally required of them, the world would be much more unpleasant than it is now. It would be nice of you to notify the company of the mistake and return one of the items.
