Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

I paid for my mother funeral. My sister asked my for the paers to make a copy and instead of that she claim the money to the insurance company. The insurance reimburse to my sister who is the owner of the insurance policy. I have copy of my credit card recipts to demostrate that I am the one who paid for the expenses. Should my sister returned the money to me or I can see legal advise to recovery the expenses in case she doesn't want to return the money ?

She is not obligated to pay you, but she may have defrauded her insurance company.if she claims she paid.

I partially disagree with Mr. Slater. I believe it may be possible to recover the funeral expenses from your sister if she was the beneficiary of the mother's insurance policy but you were the person who actually paid for all of your mother's funeral expenses. I say MAY if there are circumstances, which you have not stated here -- mother's will, agreement between you and your sister, probate of the estate..... You need a lawyer to review all the facts for YOU and give you a complete opinion.
