Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
-palm beach county Florida 33415-
I have a rental agreement until April 2010. The landlord informed the house was soon to be in foreclosure and they were going to court with the bank. He said we should look for somewhere else to live because he could not save the house. My question is do I have to pay rent while i am looking for somewhere to live? Also, He we have nothing in writing but he told us not to worry about the rent, then a month later he said he needed the rent from us. But if we just move does this mean that we broke the lease? Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

You owe rent.
You owe rent as long as you live there. Unless you have it in writing, your lease is not terminated.
You must pay rent while you live there. Period. If you do not have a written lease, you have a periodic tenancy. You must still give notice before you leave. See www.800helpfla.com/landlord_text.html
If you are living there, you still have to pay rent, unless you have another agreement in writing with the landlord. If you do not pay rent as required in your written lease agreement, you could be evicted for failure to pay rent. Regards,
