Partial Payment for Vehicle

Received two payments for a vehicle (no contract) and than had no contact for three months. Vehicle has been sold to someone else. Does the two payments have to be returned?

Someone paid you for a car and you sold the car to someone else? Under what possible theory would you get to keep the money and sell the car? I'd return the funds before you got sued.
