Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
Paying Back Relocation Expenses
My husband was relocated from Florida to Canada for his job. He works for a civil construction firm. He was told that if he didn't accept the relo. he would be terminated. We relocated to Canada, we didn't want to go, AND when we got here, he found out his responsibilites have changed. So, he's not even doing the job that he was supposed to be doing -- the reason he was relocated in the first place. In his relocation handbook there was a form that he should have signed stating that if he left the company w/in one year, he would pay back relocation expenses. He didn't sign the paper and he did not submit it back to his company. Nobody has noticed or asked if he has returned the document. If my husband did not sign or return the document, yet his company did pay for all of the relocation expenses up to Canada; is he still liable to pay his company back the relocation expenses if he decides to leave the company before one year is up?

The devil is in the details. Without realling lookong at all of it, my impression is that you do not owe anything. But of course this is based on the limited information given.
