Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
one person owes another a certain sum of money; dispute of amount even though no verbal or written agreement. Person got a lawyer and the lawyer sent a certified letter stating that person needs to pay this alleged debt. What are the other person's recourse?

Agree with Mr. Wagner. Either pay the money or defend the subsequent lawsuit.

If you do not pay, the other person may file a lawsuit against you in a court of competent jurisdiction. A judge will then have to decide whether you owe the amount in question.
