neighbor gave my daughter a piano 9 1/2 years ago.when offered money for the piano he said the only payment he wanted was to be invited to her rehearsels.he said this in front of several witnesses who are neighbors as well.he has now asked for the return of the piano.are we obligated to return the piano.thanks for your time

It was probably a gift and you own it. However if there was a condition attached to the gift, such as your child must take lessons, etc, the gift would fail. Depends on the facts...

Appears to be a gift and you own it. Was the neighbor invited to rehearsals? If so, then your neighbor should go away. But if the neighbor persists, and its worth fighting, get yourself a lawyer to write your neighbor a letter. Good luck.
