Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Post-Judgement Interest

I am in the Air FOrce and currently having my wages garnsihed to a judgment that was awarded in regards to a real estate transaction in 2003. Based on the amount biend deducted from my pay the judgment will be paid in full as of Jan 2010. How easy will it be for the individual to come after me for post-judgment interest after the main principle is satisfied? Also is post-judgment interest a reportable intem on my credit report. Just for gee whiz, the transaction happened in Lousiana but at the time I was living in Georgia. The individual domsticated the judgment to Goerigia and got the garnishment paperwork through a court in Georgia. I now live in Florida as a resident.

Re: Post-Judgement Interest

Under Florida law post-judgment interest just becomes part of the judgment, and the garnishment isn't satisfied until all post-judgment interest is paid. Post-judgment interest is reportable on your credit.

However, since the judgment exists under Louisiana law, you probably want to communicate with a Louisiana lawyer as well.
