Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Property Damage- Exceeding $1000 dollars

I recently had some property damaged, specifically, a computor system. Roughly valued at $1200-1500, I have no way of replacing the system myself at this time. The property was damaged after an arguement with a sibling, at which point they ''trashed'' the computor (threw it across the room)

Is this something I should persue in small claims court, or would this be considered a criminal matter?

I am a student currently finishing a degree in computor animation, so needless to say this computor is a vital part of my acedemic success and future career.

The words are "computer" "pursue" and "academic". The word "argument" is also misspelled, but I think that may have been a typographical error. With regard to your question, I do not believe it rises to the level of a criminal matter, and even if it did, it would be difficult for you to convince the appropriate governmental authority to undertake any serious action against the alleged culprit. It is a civil matter involving property damage. If you believe it is worth pursuing, file a small claims action in county court. Visit the county court and a clerk will guide you through the process of filing the complaint and getting it served on the defendant. I don't believe it's the type of action that requires the retention of a lawyer. Good luck.
